New Years resolutions mean sudden bursts of output and “productivity”, which I think will be reflected here on this website.
I’ve decided (after very little thought) to start putting up more of my work, and to share the things I have been creating and enjoying alone. Everything here is really just for myself, but it’s nice to keep a record of projects. Not that I need an excuse! This is my website, after all. I’m excited to share the photo compilations I’ve been working on as well as some of my weirder stuff.
I also thought I should note that I’ve put up page called “Book River Press”, which will contain my most recent little books in PDF form. Feel free to download! Everything here is about sharing. New Years Resolution: more sharing, less hoarding. I’ve uploaded two of my most recent projects, a photo-prose journal called Thought Letters, The Ocean, and a short narrative called DREAM NARRATIVE. They both represent my shift away from what I call a “pretend-person” into a “real-person”. You can interpret that however you’d like!
And fun fact— one of my last names is “Honkawa”, which means “book river” in Japanese. As an 11 year old who made zines, I thought this would be a clever name for a zine press, and now as a 21 year old who makes zines, I still think it’s a clever name. Not much has changed on this matter, and I don’t think it ever will. I’ve evolved so much as a creator of things under that name, and I am excited to see how much more my style and perspective will change in the coming months and years.
I also really want to make an effort to write more on this blog, and to share more of the things I think about and do. Maybe it will all be very interesting, or maybe it won’t. I won’t know if I don’t try!
Happy New Year! xo
